FREELANCE EVENT PRODUCER

Skin Deep makes culture in service of racial justice and liberation. Working across editorial and events, we produce and facilitate creative work that informs, motivates and nourishes people in the fight against racial capitalism. We operate at the intersection of culture and politics, bringing together artists and organisers, writers and community leaders, performers and activists.

We are seeking an experienced, community oriented Freelance Event Producer to plan, manage and deliver a two day public festival in Summer 2026. The festival will bring together artists, collaborators, partners and audiences around Skin Deep’s upcoming seasonal theme, Faith.

Role Overview

Role: Freelance Event Producer
Project: Two day public festival
Format: In person
Audience: Approximately 100 to 200 people per day
Location: London (venue TBC)
Timeline:

  • Planning and scoping from February 2026
  • Main delivery phase May / June 2026
  • Festival delivery July 2026

This is a freelance role, working closely with the Skin Deep core team.

Festival Overview

The festival will be a two day programme responding to the seasonal theme Faith, and may include panel discussions, live performances, music, readings, exhibitions, workshops, stalls and other creative activity. At Skin Deep this year, our exploration of faith stretches beyond the religious connotation, to our collective faith (or lack of) in the economic and political systems, in celebrities and popular figures, in our shared moral and ethical value systems. We’re interested in conversations around good faith, bad faith, blind faith, crisis of faith, spirituality, rituals, belief systems, confessions etc.. What emerges when faith collapses? What becomes possible when faith is regained and rebuilt? The event will be open to the public, with sliding scale ticket pricing, and will prioritise accessibility, care and community.
